Rouhani to inaugurate development plan of SP phases

TEHRAN, Dec. 15 (MNA) – The development plan of South Pars phases 15 and 16 of the massive offshore gas field will be launched officially next week in the presence of the Iranian President.

Phases 15 and 16 development plan will be officially launched next week with a daily production capacity of 50 million cubic meters of gas in Pars Special Economic Energy Zone (PSEEZ) and the inauguration ceremony will be attended by Iran's President Hassan Rouhani.

The plan is aimed at producing 50 million cubic meters a day of natural gas, 80 thousand barrels per day of gas condensate, 400 tons a day of sulfur, 1.05 million tons a year of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and one million tons of ethane for feeding petrochemical plants.

According to estimates, the inauguration of the plan will bring about an annual income of six billion dollars to the country’s economy.

Deputy Oil Minister Roknodin Javadi had recently stated that “Iran is trying to bring part of the South Pars phases 19, 20 and 21 on-stream before the end of the year.”

Recalling that about 100 million cubic meters will be added to the country’s daily gas production capacity, Javadi asserted “much of the increase derives from the launch of new phases of South Pars oilfield.”

Iran aims to complete various phases of the South Pars in the next two years in order to increase the field’s gas production capacity to more than 750 million cubic meters per day and a portion of the output will be exported to regional and global markets vie pipelines or LNG cargoes.
